Name: Keyleth Door: Dominant previously Canon: Critical Role Canon Point: End of Campaign 1 (after Dalen's Closet) Age: 24 Appearance: Here Keyleth is tall, standing around 5'10. She is lankier, slim but fit, with freckles. Her red hair rests above her shoulders and she has tattoos along her chest, shoulders, and back to symbolize the Mantle of the Tempest. She also has a guild brand. History: Here Keyleth was only in game for a short time, but she will understand the basics of it, recall that, and some of the people that she spoke to. Personality: Positive Trait: + CONSIDERATE Despite all else, Keyleth is a friendly and bubbly individual. She does enjoy new experiences and wants to explore the world to expand her knowledge of it. She can be overly enthusiastic and likes talking to people and making friends. She is more than willing to lend a hand to people in need, whether giving them a bit of healing or helping in other ways like words of advice, or running into a situation to defend against an attack even when her group wants to hang back. She is tenacious and stubborn, has her friends's backs, and refuses to give up on them or the situation that they are in, even if she may be scared. There can be a childlike innocence to her when she comes across something that she never has before, whether it is trying a new drink or smoking a strange substance or trying some feat that she never has before. She is always happy to share as well. One of the things that she wishes to do is to make the world a better place, making is safer for future generations. She can be outspoken, but she never seeks to harm others for fun or just for the sake of it. She is mindful of her position and the goal she is aiming towards, and while it may give her pause, she is attentive of her role with her people and in the greater world around her. Negative Trait: - AWKWARD The biggest theme with Keyleth is her awkwardness. This involves both being physically awkward and mentally awkward. Physically, she has been known to try feats, such as leaping over something or trying to slide across a table to look cool, and more often than not, failing, horribly. Due to low rolls, she will stub her foot or trip, which can lead to her face planting in mud, or worse, lava. Mentally, she has a bit of foot in mouth syndrome and sometimes speaks before she thinks, or speaks a lot, especially when drunk. In these situations, she speaks, and speaks, and speaks. She can overshare and some guest companions will side eye and wonder if she is okay. The twins do initially ask if she is alright mentally, and if someone was taking care of her or if she had just wandered off. She is, but she is socially inept and is not very good at persuasion as a result. She can give off the air of being sheltered, and in some ways, she was in the beginning when she first set out. She is on the path to be a leader for her people, and it is still a work in progress. She fidgets if she has to give a speech, especially in front of others, clumsy although genuine, and does inspire on weird topics, like bacon! She doesn't have a lot of experience when it comes to more intimate relationships, and her first attempts at it are a bit cumbersome, like trying to roll a dead heart towards Vax. Negative Trait: - IMPULSIVE There are times when Keyleth has a tendency to act without thinking things through completely. The biggest example of this is her death. With what can be said to be a lapse in judgment, Keyleth, instead of turning into a creature that could fly, jumps off of a cliff without really looking at the bottom. She had assumed that she would hit the water and would therefore be fine. Turns out, she was very wrong. She doesn't jump far enough and instead of turning into a bird as she comes barrelling down, turns into a goldfish in a moment of panic, which hit the rocks below and, well, died on impact. While she is wise, she isn't always smart... She will try strange drinks because she wants to, and even tries smoking foreign substances. In the comic, which sets out the pre-campaign material, she tries some water in a swamp, because a sorcerer friend of hers, Tiberius, had thought that it might be poisoning people. Needless to say, she can act out of impulse, whether during travel or in battle, leading with her emotions to try to save people, and these don't always work out well. She can blurt words out, like her first meeting with Kima, who she doesn't like due to her religion and blind faith in it, which is something that Keyleth doesn't always like. This is because of the corruption that she has seen in others, which clouds her own judgment. Negative Trait: - FEARFUL Fear, in general, is something that eats away at Keyleth in certain circumstances. She isn't scared of protecting people or defending against powerful monsters, but it is an inner fear of failure. She does lack in confidence, which is why she is drawn towards those who are confident, and fears that she will never be good enough as a leader. She is fearful of death and fearful of her destiny. These two, surprisingly, do go hand in hand together. Keyleth has been on a journey to complete her Aramenté. Once each generation, a member is chosen to set out on a journey, and this happens to be Keyleth, who follows in her missing mother’s footsteps. This takes the person between the tribes and they complete tasks. At the end, if they are successful, one of the traits that they are empowered with are an extended lifespan. Being Half Elf, Keyleth will already live longer than others, but by taking on this title, it means that she could easily live a thousand years, which means outliving all of her friends. It is a role that Keyleth never really wanted, but one that she also felt she couldn't escape from. It also does put a distance between herself and others as she can make it difficult to truly get to know her as she is fearful of opening up. She feels guilt over her mistakes, tending to focus on those rather than the achievements. She doesn't like the lack of control that she feels in her own life as she has always been moving towards one goal. Powers and Abilities: Keyleth is a Half-Elf Druid. Druids are those spellcasters who are able to use magic to manipulate nature (flora/fauna) and elements (fire/water/earth/air/light/thunder/lightning), along with the possibility of transforming into various beasts or elemental shapes. She also has some minor healing spells or able to protect against poison, pass without a trace (add to stealth), detect magic (which allows her to detect magic within a certain area), hold person (which allows her to hold someone if they fail a wisdom saving throw, each turn the victim can roll to save from it), Faerie Fire (creates a cube that outlines the objects within). There is always a limit on her spells, with lower level ones lasting 1 minute, and some of the higher levels 8 hours to 24. Some are also concentration, so if that is broken, the spell fails. She also has cantrips, which are smaller and limited spells that can be cast at will without using a spell slot. They include such things as making a small gust of wind, a harmless sensory effect, able to mend small items, or a whip of thorns that can lash out. Keyleth is able to use Wild Shape to transform into animals, and being a Circle of the Moon, it allows her to use some more powerful shapes, but even she is limited. She could use a spell to transform into an adult dragon, but not an ancient dragon, and needs to have seen the creatures before and it needs to be her challenge rating or lower. Now it is set, so she is able to prepare up to 26 spells of different levels per day (aka she cannot use 26 9th level spells). She also has certain feats. The Inspiring Leader feat after completing her Aramenté, which allows her to bolster her allies so that they gain temporary hit points after a speech is given. Mystic Conflux allows her to attune 4 items. She is Skilled, and also a War Caster. Being an Archdruid, she has unlimited Wild Shapes and can ignore verbal, somantic and no cost material components of spells. Her spells are listed here. As a Half Elf, she does have Darkvision, which just allows her to see better in the dark. Given her fey ancestry, she is also resistant to being charmed and magic cannot put her to sleep. As she has completed her Aramenté, her lifespan has been extended. She has some knowledge from books that she has read: On safely extracting alchemical and potion components from creatures, including mundane and magical beasts, Properties of liquids and chemicals from all planes, Beginner's guide to creating and preparing components for low-level spells, including a chapter on alchemy & On herbalism and collecting material components from plants. These aid her in various tasks, such as harvesting, and skill checks. Inventory: In addition to her regular inventory that she is wearing from Dalen's Closet episode: 1.
